Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.

The main theme of Brumbletide is that the Truth is kept hidden by adversaries who understand that the best lies are the ones closest to the Truth. While Pippin, Maggie, Eve, and the rest are fictional characters, the novels are based on the very true story that the Truth is being suppressed as we speak by real adversaries who know the same thing.

What is the One Way and how do we know it is the One True Way?

There is, in fact, only one way to God—and that is through the Gate that is His Son, Jesus Christ, and if you seek this Jesus with all your heart, you will find Him.

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13

And you must seek with your whole heart. Why? Because there are a slew of false religions using the same name Jesus to deliberately keep you from the True One! Cults with millions of followers all heading down the wrong path. Whole institutions capturing those seeking the real Jesus before they find Him.

Don’t worry, friend. You will find Him. And here is your sign pointing in the right direction.

First, here is the Truth that needs to be kept hidden in order to keep you going the wrong way.

Do you not notice that we humans can’t seem to live perfectly? We can’t. We are natural-born sinners. Even the best of us have no business with a perfect, holy God. Yet God, the Creator of the universe, wants to be with His creation (us) and has called us back to Himself through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.
Proverbs 14:12

All of us are trying to do what is right in our hearts—and it is destroying the world. In the eyes of God, the punishment for sin is death, and any of us who sins must pay up. Justice must be served. Does that seem harsh? Think about sin left unchecked. Continual lies, continual theft, continual adultery—seems a deadly road to me. Continual murder…

But you know, if we are honest, how many of us are truly loving our neighbor as ourselves?

Take heart, this is the good news of Jesus Christ. He died for us—instead of us! The price we owe—Jesus paid it. And all you need to do is believe in order to receive the free gift!

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23

Jesus, God in flesh, paid the price we owe, so that we can be in union with Him. God the Creator took on flesh, paid our price, and rose again defeating death. When you believe this Truth, you will not only spend eternity in heaven after you die, but God Himself will fill your heart and bear the “fruit of the Spirit” here and now on earth. You’ll be the light of the world!

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

We cannot bear this fruit apart from Him.

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5

So God has given us a free gift, and when we believe in it, He then bears spiritual fruit in us and through us. So what is our job? Don’t we have a big job to do in order for the God of the universe to welcome us into His kingdom? Or at least to keep Him from throwing us out?

No. That is the whole point of the free gift! BELIEVE and CLING!

BELIEVE the Gospel that was just stated above, and CLING to Jesus through prayer, Scripture, and a local church that clearly believes and preaches this Gospel. There are many counterfeits, but keep reading.

And here we have arrived at the warning that has been on my heart to give. If you are part of a church that tells you that you must perform certain works in order to please God, even though they may be good works, this is the lie from the beginning. This is what tempted Eve, and it is what tempts us. A transactional relationship gives the false feeling of control over our salvation. Not only is that not the way it works, but friend, you are declining the precious free gift that Christ paid the ultimate price to give you. God loves you, and wants a relationship with you. He paid it all. You just have to believe.

You may be tempted to hold on to your rituals, rules, and whatever else it is that you are performing to gain God’s acceptance. But friend, the simple switch from God giving to us doing is suppression of the Truth. Not only have we said “no” to Jesus’s free gift, but we then find ourselves (and anyone we have influenced) not in a loving relationship with the Father who loves us, but repetitiously doing whatever our cult has told us will make Him be kind to us. We have declined the Free Gift and decided to try to please God on our own—which cannot be done.

This is the Truth. You can accept it today! It is called “amazing grace” because it truly is amazing—almost scandalous.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Examine your faith today. Is it based on works or the rest that Christ has given? If you find that you are working to please God, it’s time to be strong and courageous—and rest in the love of Jesus.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
